Where is Don?

I am still around! As with so many people, life happens and keeping my blog up to date dropped below the active line. Rest assured, I have not been inactive during my “absence,” just not updating my blog as much as I would like. I know I have a couple of historical articles that people still come up to me at conferences and tell me they use them all the time, which makes me proud, but also guilty that I have not been keeping those updated. As we all know, an article that covered ground-breaking changes 3 years ago is now out of date and potentially misleading. So, I will be working on updating those articles over the next few months.
What have I been up to? Mostly, my full-time job keeps me very busy as a consultant and architect for various Microsoft 365 projects with several large clients. One of the reasons my blog tapered off is that most of this client work is centered in the Power Platform, which I have not written about much here. I have some advanced Power Platform topics in my backlog that I hope to share with you soon, mainly about how to take a platform that is built primarily for “everyone to become a maker,” and use it to build enterprise-grade solutions that can scale to thousands of users. Hopefully, I’ll find time to get those published.
I still am speaking at conferences and user groups around the world, and have plans to continue that in the upcoming year. As the speakers for those events are announced, I’ll try to keep this site updated with where I will be speaking next. I love meeting people at these events, so please come up and say hello if you see me there!
While my work focus has not been SharePoint Framework (SPFx) as much as in the past, I am still very involved in the SPFx community as a Microsoft 365 PnP contributor. I am currently part of an advisory panel consisting of several M365 Development MVPs that are working directly with Microsoft product teams to help guide the future of SPFx and related developer technologies. There are very exciting things coming in that space. If you have ideas or suggestions for improvements, please reach out to me via any of my contact points and I am happy to relay your ideas to the right people.
I also still contribute code samples and documentation to the M365 PnP repositories on GitHub, so keep an eye out for those contributions too. If you are not familiar with M365 PnP, please check it out at aka.ms/m365pnp. There are tons of great resources there for Microsoft 365 developers.
I have a few other projects that I hope to share with you soon. Stay tuned for more updates in the near future!
